 Itinerary

Tour Overview :

Discover Jordan’s natural beauty and rich history on this 10-day birdwatching and cultural tour. Explore Roman ruins, lush reserves, Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea. Spot diverse bird species in key habitats like Azraq, Dana, and Aqaba. Enjoy guided tours, scenic hikes, desert adventures, and unforgettable landscapes from Amman to Aqaba.

Day 1: Arrival — Queen Alia Airport to Amman (No meals)
Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, our airport representative will be waiting for you with a name sign to assist with visa procedures. Your driver, also holding a name sign, will meet you in the arrivals hall and transfer you to your hotel in Amman.
Overnight in Amman (Bed & Breakfast).
Day 2: Amman — Jerash — Dibeen Forest — Ajloun — Amman (Breakfast, Lunch box)
At 07:00 AM, meet your birding guide in your hotel lobby. Drive to Jerash to explore the world’s best-preserved Roman provincial city. While touring Jerash, keep an eye out for the Hoopoe, Eurasian Jay, Carrion Crow, and Hooded Crow.
Continue through Dibeen Forest to Ajloun Castle. You’ll stop for a short self-guided birding walk to spot species such as the Tawny Owl, Syrian Woodpecker, Winter Wren, and Blue Tit.
Visit Ajloun Castle, a historic Crusader fortress with stunning views. More bird sightings may include the Short-Toed Eagle, Red-Rumped Swallow, Long-Billed Pipit, Woodchat Shrike, and Jackdaw.
Return to Amman for overnight.
Day 3: Amman — Qasr Amra — Shaumari Wildlife Reserve — Azraq Wetland Reserve (Breakfast, Lunch box, Dinner)
After breakfast, head east to visit Qasr Amra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Jordan’s famed desert castles. If open, visit the Shaumari Wildlife Reserve.
Continue to the Azraq Wetland Reserve, an important stopover for migratory birds. Spend the afternoon birdwatching on your own (self-guided). Look out for species like the Great Crested Grebe, Great White Pelican, Cormorants, Herons, Ducks, Golden Eagle, Cranes, Sandgrouse, Avocets, and many more.
Overnight at Azraq Wetland Reserve.
Day 4: Azraq — Wadi Hazim — Azraq (Breakfast, Lunch box, Dinner)
Today you’ll enjoy a guided day tour of Wadi Hazim, located east of Azraq. Enter the desert in a 4x4 jeep with your birding and local guides.
Enjoy the desert landscape and spend the day birdwatching.
Overnight at Azraq Wetland Reserve.

Day 5: Azraq — Mt. Nebo — Wadi Mujib — Dead Sea (Breakfast, Lunch box)
After breakfast, drive to Mount Nebo, the biblical site where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land.
Continue to Wadi Mujib Bridge for a stop at the Mujib Biosphere Reserve. From April 1st to October 31st, you may hike the adventurous Siq Trail (self-guided)—a water trail through a scenic gorge.
Then, continue to the Dead Sea. Enjoy the rest of the day floating in its salty waters and trying the famous mineral-rich mud.

Day 6: Dead Sea — Dana Nature Reserve — Petra (Breakfast, Lunch box)
Enjoy a relaxing morning at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Later, drive to Dana Nature Reserve, rich in biodiversity and a great birding location.
Take a short guided walk to explore the area before continuing to Petra.
Overnight in Petra.
Day 7: Petra — Wadi Rum (Breakfast, Lunch box, Dinner)
Walk to the Petra Visitor Center and begin your tour of the ancient Nabataean city of Petra. Visit the Siq, Treasury, Street of Facades, the Amphitheater, and more. There will be stops for tea and shopping along the way.
Continue your visit to either the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice—challenging hikes with rewarding views.
In the afternoon, drive to Wadi Rum. Enjoy the magical desert sunset before dinner.
Overnight at a desert camp in Wadi Rum.
Day 8: Wadi Rum — Aqaba (Breakfast, Lunch box)
Your local contact will greet you at the Wadi Rum Visitor Center, arrange your entry, and guide you to Rum Village.
Optional: Enjoy a short camel ride before beginning your jeep tour with a freshly prepared BBQ lunch in the desert.
Wadi Rum is also a birdwatcher’s haven, with many desert species to spot.
After the tour, transfer to Aqaba.
Overnight in Aqaba.
Day 9: Aqaba — Aqaba Bird Observatory (Breakfast, Lunch box)
Visit the Aqaba Bird Observatory (self-guided, according to schedule), a vital migration stop for many bird species. Spend a full day exploring the site.
Overnight in Aqaba.
Day 10: Aqaba — Departure from Queen Alia International Airport (Breakfast)
Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. Departure is scheduled approximately 6 hours before your flight.
